The IRFU is committed to the enjoyment of rugby by young people and seeks to promote, create and maintain safe environments for Age Grade Players.
The training is based on Sport Ireland and Sport Northern Ireland guidance documents and related legislation. On completion of all 2 safeguarding modules those working with age-grade players will be able to create a player-centred environment, implement best practice, identify concerns and know how to respond appropriately to those concerns.
This IRFU Safeguarding training (SG3) assists Club Officials, including Club Welfare Officers and Deputy Club Welfare Officers, to develop a clearer understanding of the reporting process when there is a safeguarding concern.
By the end of this (approximately) 40-minute course participants will be able to:
1. identify the categories of abuse & grounds for concern.
2. state the relevant legislation, policies & guidelines.
3. carry out the process for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to statutory authorities.
4. describe the role and responsibilities of the Club Welfare Officer and Branch Welfare Officer/IRFU.
We hope you find the course informative and useful in your work with age-grade players.
